LOCAL WEATHER TODAY
the Netweather rain display has a number of blobs this morning and from the discussions on Metcheck it looks like the current balmy weather might be interrupted soon with some thunderstorms
not quite double figures yet but near enough to make it feel pleasant outside
some cloud in the weathercam view but very high and thin at the moment.  Forecasters are predicting the odd thunderstorm this afternoon - - - we shall see - - -
the weather was very good yesterday which made for some hot logging
I was concentrating onm the trunk of the latest tree so it was hard going
by mid-day with a few more bits added to the new pile it was time to head for home.
wandering down to the garden centre for some bug spray mixture I asked about peas which we had been looking for far too early, but they were available! so promptly bought and planted we can sit back and wait for the fruits of our labours - - -

I'm getting somewhere in my attempts to stop the Jackdaws and Magpies ripping the fatballs apart everyday.  I put a piece of wood in place, "circled" to stop them being able to hop from a convenient position onto the fat ball feeder.

Of course they won't give up as this Jackdaw demonstrates trying to reach the fatball from the feeder tray.
from the tray didnt work so another tries from the fence on the other side.  Making the feeder longer seems to be stopping this attempt.  I even saw an attempt to get the lid off the feeder and another where the bird was poking its head through the gap in the fence to get at the fatball - - - A couple tried flying at then hanging onto the feeder but they dont have the strength to stay on too long.  This morning shows that yesterdays fatball is still in the cage, so a move in the right direction methinks - - -

A PEEK AT THE PAPER

The Express this morning claims a big boost for the Brexit campaign  as a poll reveals that 54% want to leave against 47% who want to stay - - - the "huge boost" needs to be there on referendum day ! - - -
