LOCAL WEATHER TODAY
not much in the way of rain showing on the netweather display this morning, looks like we could be in for another dry day

It was cold yesterday as i set out to go logging, i even wore a long sleeved top - - - and a wooly hat! 8c was no joke in the wind up in the hills ! - - -

Once again a cool start but there is a little hope that the weather will warm up in the next couple of days and the weekend will be much warmer . The wind from the North does not bode well for today though
A dull grey view on the weathercam, but there are just a couple of blue bits showing through. No rain is forecast for today and variable amounts of cloud, a top Temp of 17c will be welcome - -==============================================

The hawthorn blossom is looking great across the hillside above my logging site
the huge pile of brashings is gone but i came close to setting fire to the log pile
in this shot you can just make out the singed bits!
this bit of plastic should have been removed before i set fire to the brashings, its been shrink wrapped over some lumpy bits of wood
my new pile had been played on by the lambs because a few of the top bits had been knocked off
breaking up the bits of trunk makes for hard physical work
some of the knotty bits have to be sawn up into chunks because the maul just cant split them
thats it for to day a little more height on the outside stack and a second inside layer started
my square pile suffers its first collapse at a corner!

After lunch i was undecided what would amuse me in the afternoon but then the website server decided the course for me. I looked into the images folder and apart from the minute update photos it was empty! I'm not sure how it happened and it could have been careless finger trouble on my part. I managed to find most of the images that were in there and replace them. On completion i made a copy in the server - - just in case.

Still unconvinced about the problems the Sricam IP camera is causing i had it running for a couple of days and all was well. As soon as i put it back up watching the bird feeder my PC crashed. I'll continue using it because i'm not sure why it happens - - - some of the shots from it yesterday make it worth leaving it as is at the moment
This one has 2 Jackdaws at the feeders one is devouring the food from the tray while the other is dismantling the fat ball.
This video shows probably the same 2 Jackdaws in their daily raid on the feeders, having done with the fat ball they turn their attention to the peanuts. I recently changed the peanut feeder because the birds couldn't feed from the previous one. This one makes it all too easy for them. Another jackdaw cant wait its turn and they start to squabble! - - point to note, they dont seem to bother eating the sunflower seeds!

Sally noticed a couple of days ago that our aged Apple Tree which we have sliced limbs off years ago in the past has now decided to sprout new growth from way down the trunk - - - it just goes to show how tenaciously they hang on !

A PEAK AT THE PAPERS
Only a few days ago the Express was claiming a diet was the cure for type 2 diabetes and that the disease was costing the NHS £millions. They appear to have given up with this mornings headline That Gastric band operations are the way to go . Incredibly the story claims it will save £100k per patient because the Op will negate the need for other treatments as a result of the condition - - -
Mr Farage wants us all to "stand half an inch taller" great rallying cry and vote to leave the EU. He reckons we can take on the "European heavyweights" if we do - - - I do hope we get the chance ! - - -
