LOCAL WEATHER TODAY
The rain showing on the Netweather display looks to be fanning out from the Bristol area and thinning as it goes. We might be lucky and not get any locally
The min Temp overnight was 6.9c so its rising already but still feels chilly outside just now
not much of a view on the weathercam but it is expected that the day might be quite pleasant with some sunshine soon

I did a couple of hours logging yesterday and once i had "paid the toll" of a couple of ginger nut bicuits Bertie let me go on my way
When i cleared this hillside a few years ago I left this copse of what were straggly Hawthorn bushes. They look splendid with their blooms just now but will make good firewood soon
deciding on an oblong structure for this pile of wood i laid out this piece of plastic as a template
this pile needed moving to the area first
of course the first layer is easy!
On the subsequent layers its the corners that take some time to get right
last few sticks from the stump of the old tree
towering above it is one of the 2 huge trees left on the edge of the knoll i might leave felling these until late winter, maybe Feb or March next year
all the knotted bits i had to saw rather than smash are carried across to the pile, I might use them on the very top
Right! that's it for today back home for a special mission
Nice view of the garden from the top of the roof! Having given up on the idea of having someone move the TV and its attendant cables we moved it ourselves. A couple of associated jobs were to put up a standard TV aerial and pop in a bird restriction device (cowl) into our main chimney. I still cant get the aerial to work so that job was binned but the bird thing had to be fitted
Securing a ladder on the kitchen roof i scrambled up the roof then used a rope for safety as i adjusted the cowl before popping it into the top of the chimney. The fluting on the chimney made it difficult to get the thing completely vertical but it will at least be fit for purpose. We have often watched from the garden as jackdaws use our chimney as a perch to then go down into our neighbours chimney to their nest. It will be interesting to see if they perch on the cowl now.
