With rain forecast yesterday but none forthcoming i decided to return to felling trees at our logging site
Its a couple of weeks shy of 4 months since i went up there apart from a couple of trips to collect wood for my Daughter and Sally's Sister.
My hand op was the original reason for stopping and its taken longer than i expected for it to allow me to control the chainsaw.
on the way down the hill i pass one of two trees which i am not allowed to cut down. The berries on the holly look really nice this time of year. The other is an old fir Christmas tree planted by our friend the landowner when he was younger.
this is the one i'm after, its leaning the right way and will fall onto one track and along another. The lean can cause problems in felling it but hopefully it will come down ok
ta-daa! with a new chain on the saw its easy to cut with only the steep slope on this side making it a little awkward for me to stay on my feet
i had to be careful with the trunk resting on the stump thinking it might slip off at any time
lopping off some of the larger limbs made it easier to get at the trunk and this is how i left it, looking at the rainy weather this morning it might be after my shifts before i get back down there to finish off the trunk

its raining right now and the forecasters are predicting it might rain until late afternoon
08:25 now and its raining hard with some mist/low cloud racing up the valley
