The Express is still waxing lyrical about the "80MPH Storm" which is just about with us now although on their webpage they focus more on dishing out doom and gloom over what they are predicting will be travel chaos today! Just love the banner about a "New way of measuring blood pressure will save lives" if you take it literally its such a daft statement

In the South and mid West of the US huge storm leaves 6 dead the Storm was declared "particularly dangerous" after multiple tornadoes swept the affected areas

Believe it or not this is a mushroom the link has a great video of the Clathrus archeri emerging from its sac in the New Forest. Not a native of the UK it was introduced into the UK around the First World War era so I think it might be awhile before it pops up here

With yesterdays (Wed) forecast indicating fine weather i decided to go up to the logging area and attempt to get the tree trunk from the latest felling into rounds
the chainsaw isn't large enough to go straight through so its a case of doing one side then the other
the new chain recently fitted makes short work of the job down one side
theres always a chance of the chain being gripped by the trunk as i get through it so i place logs underneath and wedges into the top of the trunk
even so its a long job and pushing the rounds up onto the track is exhausting work, the sun which is very low in the sky manages to warm up the area but the cold wind is taking its toll of my enthusiasm
i leave the last few rounds in the pit and will think about rolling them out or smashing them where there are later
it still very cold and after taking this shot i swing the maul to smash a couple of rounds just to get warm before beating a retreat back up into the farmyard to Cyril

later in the afternoon the garden looks great in the sunshine although its time to take down that Zebra grass which shades the pond in the summer which is not its job right now
after topping up the bird feeders i noticed the Quince bush has a flower or 2 on it
others are also ready to burst foerth as are some of its leaves. We have had this before, some years it will flower 2 or 3 times before summertime
this Rosemary has some new growth as well its the very light grey bits, at first i thought they might be flowers. The miniature apple tree still has some of its fruit but we'll leave these for the birds
back at the lowest level of the garden the box hedge is doing a good job of shielding both the wind and the sun form the emerging daffodils.

the current http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ chart shows where it raining about 20 mins ago so its not going to be long before we get some
The huge blob of the storm visible on the radar yesterday looks to have thinned out a bit with the band of rain not looking like it will be too severe, but who knows! the wind today will be the interesting bit to keep an eye on

just double figures in the Temp this morning but the 18.1 wind is a warning what is coming!
not much to see on the weathercam pic just now I'll post later
