Looks like a slack news day & It could be a logging morning methinks

the story from the Express main headline is eluding my search of their inside pages so here's the Guardian version from yesterday   It was only a couple of days ago the rates were projected to rise?  The top right banner is also not easy to find but past articles on the same theme abound - - - looks like a "slack news day" - - -
====================================
another Express story here about 2 volcanoes on the same tectonic plate but thousands of miles apart Panic as two volcanoes EXPLODE simultaneously causing mass evacuation  the story does however have a line "More than 1200 people have been evacuated from within a 1.9-mile containment zone I would rather fancy being more than one point nine miles from anything looking like either mountain ! - - -

==========
-36 c on this on this roadcam from Finland and here we are complaining about our "cold" weather
========================================
 it was nice to, not do a great deal yesterday after the Kinder Scout challenge the previous day.  A trip up to our favourite lunch stop without the usual walk was the order of the day
 with the Temp only just above freezing the misty view from the car park makes the promise of some afternoon sunshine unlikely.
=====
I had long been eyeing the buckled throat plate in the log burner along with a cracked firebrick which needed attention, and had let the fire burn out before lunch.   Returning after lunch i cleared out the fire repaired the brick and fitted the new throat plate
this rather blurred image doesn't really show the state of the old one.  I also took out the multifuel grate and ash pan and so we are now back in full wood burning mode.  I only had the grate in because it made emptying the ash easier, on re-reading the, over 10 year old instructions i realised it would burn a little more efficiently without it.
===================================

 the current http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ chart shows little in the way of precipitation going on at the moment although the sky looks quite full of cloud just now
=================================
 still quite cold this morning but once again nothing in the way of any precipitation or windy conditions
nothing on the weathercam yet due to the darkness. I  did notice yesterday that the lights i have illuminating Boris which come on at around 16:30 are now on when its light so the 2 minutes a day change in the length of the daylight since the Solstice are coming into play.
===================================
With the weather looking on the calm side this morning I'll be out at the logging site getting some of my recent efforts under cover.
=======================
UPDATE ALMOST 08:00
It looks pretty dull and grey out but at least its not blowing a gale and raining for a change.  We are in for a Max Temp of plus 4c today and promise of sunshine before noon! - - -
==================================
UPDATE 1500
fabulous sunny aspect since around 11:00 the sun is almost setting from the valley now
======================================
Enjoy the day
