Enjoy the day – Enjoy the weather

LOCAL WEATHER TODAY

We were spared the predicted heavy rain thunderstorms and hail yesterday
On the rain radatr this morning the lakes look to be getting a soaking
As this clip from the the Hazeldene Hotel in keswick's webcam shows

locally we are enjoying a good start to the day with no rain yet and those blobs to the North of Manchester don't look to be drifting our way
The overnight low Temp was 8.8 so just about feeling the warmth of the sun now on our Eastern, shaded side of the valley.
The sky was perfectly clear earlier but the cloud is drifting in, on the weathercam view a little right now. The Met O has a pessimistic approach to the forecast for today.  They look for a Heavy shower morning from 09:00 to 12:00 then Thunderstorms from 15:00 to 18:00 then back to a Heavy shower evening from 18:00 to 21:00.  Metcheck aim for variable amounts of cloud with the possibility of light rain almost anytime until 18:00 when the sky will clear, they have sunshine all day for tomorrow just now!  I think today we might get some half decent sunshine with the odd shower juts like yesterday - - -

The weather report for yesterday was abysmal, rain thunderstorms and the possibility of hail! Undeterred however i was determined to finish off the two remaining small trees from my "across the stream" early spring felling, which we had pulled with Boris onto higher ground the previous day .
It rained as i walked down to "the Gym" so not a particularly good start.  The shower passed as quick as it came so i set too on the first tree.
neither were large so i bit the bullet on getting wet if it rained again.  The sky was alternately grey and rainy then brilliant sunshine as i looked upwind into the sky
this is what the stash looked like after my last effort
working quite quickly during the rainy periods i slowed down when with just one log to go the sky cleared and the 1st of July sky looked like you imagine it should
almost finished the last log and here comes another shower
the stash is almost level with the tops of the surrounding walls
just a few drops falling as i cover up the stash and look around for more wood to fill it up
there's a line of small trees across the stream which will do the job nicely but that's for another day, the rains getting harder now
Typical! as i walk back up the hill i get soaked.  Don't you just love our English weather.
As i was working away a tractor with a plough on the back passed me and went up into the field above the knoll.  A plough isn't something you see a lot of up in these valley's and the photo above tells you why.  The blokes with the plough spent a good hour in the field but their effort looked in vane as i took a photo of the field from the farmyard.

The new fatball feeder has slowed down the larger birds but this video shows they are still defeating my attempts at stopping them taking all the food in the feeder. - - - a more cunning plan is needed! - -

The Book the book the book : A fever has gripped me, sustaining it might be a problem!  I must get the book finished! and I'm designing covers today.  The decision to publish through Amazon Kindle has been firmed up and hopefully it wont be too long before its "out"

The commemoration of the beginning of the Battle of The Somme in the first world war almost gets equal billing on the front page of the Express . The crusade to get us out of the EU in quick time continues and rightly so  This story has Turkey holding the EU bosses to ransom about its membership bid to stem the flow of migrants from its borders.
the Guardian has the Commemoration firmly in its place on its front page.  The TV coverage by the BBC was excellent and touching on such a special day. - - -

 FOOTBALL ALERT !
OK i dont watch, understand or follow football but everyone gets a daily dose of it because of media coverage.  I do like this story about the Welsh Teams success at the Euro 2016
The juxtaposition of Hodgson with his big bucks salary is a good move but the headline with the story says it all for me.  "The Welsh minnows who put English pampered flops to shame"  - - - how did they win? they played football! - - - OK OK!  I did say i didn't understand football!
