LOCAL WEATHER TODAY

===========================================
===============
this photo was very early this morning  and its already clouded over with a hint of things to come later
these blobs of rain have started to appear on the Netweather.TV display and look to be headed right for us
Its quite warm already and i imagine the Barometric tendency will shift soon to rain
The weathercam reflects well the recent developments with the cloud.  Forecasters are looking towards "light rain" at some time during today.  Met O predict rain after 09:00 for the rest of the day, Metcheck plumps for after 10:00 - - -

=====================

The warm weather has been playing havoc with the Temp readings on my main weather station for a while now.  It is under Boris's car port plastic roof so it does get affected by warm weather.  I had an idea to have a spare 5 volt computer fan running off a solar panel to cool the transponder unit down to get a Temp reading somewhere near a shade Temp. I just needed the panel soldering to a piece of wire then onto the fan wires.  Thinking it might only be a 5 minute job i popped it across the road to a local electric contractor.
Mind numbing umming and ahing followed, and there was even a mention of the dreaded Health and Safety but eventually they took it and said they would ring me.
A week later wondering why it was taking this amount of time i popped across and was told one of their blokes had it in his van.  During the conversation the bloke mentioned "the solar panel wouldn't drive the fan".  It did when i connected it by holding the wires on the tiny contacts.  I was told the bloke would bring it across later that day.
It eventually turned up the following day with the message "we haven't got time to do it"
I realised on inspecting it they had removed the original wires to the fan and tried to solder much thicker wires directly into the fan - - - net result, it shorted out, hence the comment, "the solar panel wouldn't drive the fan" .  My idea had been for them just to solder the thicker wires to the very thin ones coming out the fan and then onto the solar panel, but hey,  i obviously didn't make that clear!
I am in bewildered awe at the amount of "local traders" who dont appear to, want to, or are unable to, get on with a f***** simple job - - -  - - - if you want a job doing properly - - do it yourself! - - -  rant over
So yesterday with time to kill before guests arrived for dinner i got an old 12 volt computer fan unhooked the trickle charger from my shaver, an earlier triumph against built in obsolescence of an electric shaver charger, and connected it up.  Viola! the resulting draft is enough to cool the unit to within one degree of another unit which is in the shade.  I have a timer unit to switch on the fan around 11:00a.m. and off in the early evening when the unit is not affected by the sun.

while trawling the internet for a "transformer" to accommodate 240v down to 12v i came across this
 plug the thing into the wall socket plug an old cigarette lighter plug into it and attach anything 12v DC what a cracking piece of technology. DON'T FORGET THE HEALTH AND SAFETY THOUGH!!

The Tour de France ends today and barring Froome not turning up he is set to win it for the third time
Manky wet and dangerous rainy conditions marred the 20th stage but even so it looked as if the Sky Team had it in the bag.  Froome, with his team mates around him, even let other GC contenders overtake him in the final 150 metres of yesterdays stage, cruising over the line with a smile on his face.
There is only the final stage and finish at the Arc de Triomphe to contend with today and he will win the race once again.

A PEEK AT THE PAPER

The banner is given over to just one ad - - A dream holiday Lodge and the fact the paper only costs 30p
 An interesting story is the main headline with the EU allegedly bending over backwards to keep the UK in the market but not have us under EU rules.  Seems unusual but i dont see them cutting off their nose etc etc etc  - - - in the long run will it matter to the UK? i dont think so.  Other stories in the press are one minute saying the economy is failing while the Bank of England are telling us their has been no downward trend in the economy since the referendum - - - the moral of the stories will always be - - - why let the truth stand in the way of a good story  - - -
The mail really gets the knives out for Mr Corbyn with a whole raft of stories about his leadership battle - - - laughable !
