The rain on the display indicates its going to be a soggy day at some time for most of the northern UK today

The XC weather chart with its red arrows shows the predicted very strong winds for today gaining in strength.  It could be a interesting day for weather watchers

A cool temp and a brisk wind usher in today's wild weather. By lunchtime we should have its measure locally then its looking like a couple of hours of wind and rain before it settles down for the night

Local weather today 
The Met O  Today will be bright to begin with but a band of rain and strong winds will cover the area during the afternoon.  This will clear by evening.  Winds will be gale force and sometimes storm force especially on the Peaks at times
BBC Weather  Has a similar start to the day but with the band of rain lasting until 19:00.  The night will be windy and cold with some clear sky patches

I'm not quite sure why one of the Express banners is proclaiming that tomorrow they will give away a Christmas and New Year TV guide? - - -

The Express is the latest newspaper to jump on the weather bandwagon proclaiming that we are braced for a "Deadly Storm"  I like the fact that TM the PM should be getting the Brexit quicker message by now from the other front page story.
