LOCAL WEATHER NOW AND FORECAST FOR TODAY
==============================
There isn't much on the display and looking at the movement (Northward) its unlikely we shall see anything more than a light shower or two today unless anything significant develops.

The Temp at 1.4c is cold but the with a max Tamp of 8c expected today it should warm up once the dawn arrives

Local weather today
Met O Peak District: Early fog will lift onto the hills through the morning, before clearing some eastern hills by early afternoon. However this could persist across some western slopes, and moors with them remaining in fog for most of the day. There are also likely to be outbreaks of drizzle at times later in the day.
Visibility:  Poor to very poor in fog. Some moderate to good periods possible, mainly later in the day at lower levels, or across eastern parts.

Hill Fog:  Fog affecting some valleys will lift through the morning giving periods of broken hill fog around 300 metres through the morning, becoming increasingly ragged in the east during the afternoon but will remain persistent above 400m over western facing upslopes.

Max wind above 400m:  Westerly 10-20mph.

Temperatures
Valleys:  Plus 8 Celsius
600m:  Plus 3 Celsius
Freezing level:  Above the summits.

Yahoo weather:  Today - Cloudy with a high of 45 °F (7.2 °C). Winds variable.
Tonight - Cloudy with a 30% chance of precipitation. Winds variable at 2 to 9 mph (3.2 to 14.5 kph). The overnight low will be 40 °F (4.4 °C).

I went down once again to Matlock to drop my book postcards behind windscreens yesterday and toured the car park by the station as well as Sainsbury's.  It didn't feel too cold at first but by the time i had put my last card onto a vehicle i was glad to jump into Cyril and head home.  A quick drink at the Church was followed by some serious log burner watching! It was my intention to have a go at removing some dead iris greenery from the garden but that can wait another day - - -

With the sun having left the valley yesterday, the scattered cloud was illuminated by the sun
we had a grandstand view of the light show
There was even a hint of a crepuscular display
but alas it faded rather than developed - - -nice colours though

The white headed Balckbird was around a few days ago eating from the bird table
and the pair of collared doves are a regular feature, sometimes sitting in the apple tree above me as I top up the bird table food for them
This morning i noticed that a mouse was having a go at the bird table leftovers
It struck me that this cant possibly be the one we used to see earlier in the year but you never know.  With all the cats about it seems unlikely.  - - -

News?
The banners have Murray wining SPOTY again and an MEP allegedly altering documents about brexit
The main headline reports of "Storm chaos at Christmas" but reading the article its going to be windy and rainy - - - the main thrust appears to be the strikes that will be going which will be responsible for the chaos.  - - - the claims of about a week ago that we will be having minus 10c temperatures on Christmas day have all but disappeared.  - - -

The photo is from the BBC and it shows people in China drying persimmons.  I had seen the fruit where i work and tried it, sweet but a bit bland for me but apparently gaining popularity in the UK, great photos
