LOCAL WEATHER NOW AND FORECAST FOR TODAY
==============================
Not much rain on the display up in the Lakes or back home this morning.  The blobs around Liverpool are sinking away to the South and what little is to the north of Matlock looks like it will be well gone by the time we get back today
Its cold to cool mild back home and with no wind it might not feel too uncomfortable today.

I have lost pictures from the weather and birdfeeder cams so no show from them this morning

todays local weather forecast
The Met O forecast has a cloudy day with chance of some rain until 12:00  Top Temp will be 7c and winds will be 20 mph strengthening towards evening at 30 to 35 mph.
Yahoo weather has a 40% chance of rain a top temp of 6.7c and winds around 9 to 11 mph.

Was it windy the first night in the lakes?
yes it was.  The recently erected christmas tree snapped off at the base.
after a hearty breakfast we set off for a days outing.  First stop as ever were the Stepping Stones at Rydal.  The river was so high the stones were a good foot under the water.
On then to Dove Cottage where we picked up another of the Lake District prints Sally likes so well. Braving the rain we walked down into Grasmere and raided the local T gardens although it was all inside today in the cold wind
we then motored up to Keswick and on into the Borrowdale valley to stop at Seathwaite Farm.  This is where i camp up when I'm striding the local mountains.  Sadly only once this year, i must make more of an effort next year. The snow must be pretty deep on the uppermost slopes, no walkers vehicles parked up today!
With all the rain the waterfalls are looking great on the hillside.  You walk up this short sharp hillside then on to Green Gable and Great Gable, an enjoyable summer walk.  Back into Boris and off up to Honnister slate mine
going up the road was no problem for Boris but up at the mine the slushy icy snow was well in evidence
we normally fill up with slate but in the freezing rain it was a no brainer not to.  I had a look round the "fill yer boot" pile and determined that when we come up in June next year would be a better option
One of the slate displays looks like a load of grave stones in the snow
someone is on duty in the mountain rescue hut but i don't envy them at all.
this is the road down the pass on the coast side of the mountains
we set off down the way we have come on the 20% incline, there's very little snow on the road so no problem for Boris
back at Derwentwater level we stop in the national trust car park to get a shot of the snow capped mountains.  Skiddaw i think
back down in Keswick we wander around then take a late lunch in the Bank Tavern before taking this shot of the christmas lights on one of the buildings.  With the light failing we drove back to the Wateredge, our hotel where we observe the Christmas tree is back in a vertical aspect and showing off its lights once more

looking at the weather and birdfeeder cams back home something must be amiss because neither appears to be working.  I wonder if the recent heavy rain has anything to do with it?

Wednesdays Express
The banner has an entertaining pitch this morning MP's appear to have woken up to the fact they could seize the super-yacht of the ex BHS boss to pay for some of his misdeeds - - -
The main headline has Mr T and F grinning out form the front page with a suggestion T wants to give F the British Ambassadors job - - - Mmmmmmm

 Here's a controversial issue
Cars are stationary at a junction to let an oncoming car turn right.  Cyclist with gopro camera on helmet rides through the junction, in a bike lane and hits the turning car .  The headline is So who's fault is it?
You would like to think that the biker would respect everyone else at the junction and stop as well.  The law would probably say that the driver crossing the bike lane should have observed if bikes were coming.   The driver just drove off which was illegal after an accident.  I wonder if he will be caught?  (in Germany the driver would have been at fault, no question)
