Storm Jake on its way & Time to try and propagate laurel bush cuttings

the Express is back on the health kick once more with New diet can fight diabetes its based on users losing weight over a 12 week period! - - - More to the point is the headline suggesting the state pension age is set to rise.  Other papers cover this as their main story and the Mirror and Metro say we must work until 75, The Sun suggests 81! - - -

Mount Sinabung in Sumatra has been erupting for months now but in the last few days there have been a number of casualties when increased activity has caught out people near to the mountain there's a gallery of pics in the link

I picked this link about Hen Harriers sky dancing from and RSPB e mail, there are a good couple of videos to watch on it

Here's a Snowy weather forecast from the Express indicating minus 13c Temps, Arctic gales and Snow and ice from tonight across Britain.  The real weather forecasters are in some disarray as to what the approaching "Storm Jake" is going to do when it reaches us this evening - - -
  this Netweather 10 day snapshot of weather for our area doesn't go as far as the Express - - -  but this Netweather Storm Jake prediction is looking like we all might be in for a cold wet bumpy ride well into the weekend - - -

with our Laurel bushes exceeding all expectations on growth height, they are now well in excess of our original idea for them.  I just wonder if i might have any success taking cuttings and then using them to shield off the last remaining open flank to the bitterly cold Northern winds in our garden? maybe its time to give it a try
===============================================
 cold again this morning but the overnight rain has at least stopped
there's a cloudy aspect on the weathercam pic just now and the Met O forecast for the Peak District is a miserable wet snowy sleety one for today - - - probably best to sit around the log burner! - - -

Enjoy the day
