Scotland once again gets all the attention on the rain display 
This Met O pressure display shows quite clearly why its happening with the pressure in England being greater and the 2 cold fronts keeping the rain away from us - - -

The current local stats show a significant rise in Temp overnight and we find ourselves on the edge of mild at the moment.  The 0.5 rain figure must have fallen quite recently because its quite damp outside just now

Its still a bit dull and grey but at least its mild and not raining

Local weather today 
Its going to be a cloudy and dry start and the cloud might break a little as the day progresses.  We might get the odd light shower during daylight but after dark the %age chance of rain will increase.

I'm was still not feeling too bright so yesterday was once again a slack day, good news in the morning about some possible relief made it a little brighter.  All the sitting around I'm doing caused my back to spasm so the afternoon evening night was not as comfortable as it could have been.  Strangely enough a friend of ours had suggested an odd position in bed to relieve the back pain, in desperation at around 04:30 i remembered what she'd said, tried it and it worked! lol

News 
After the no-show of the last "Arctic blast " for the Christmas period the Express is forecasting another for January.  The upshot of the article is that it will get colder in early Jan and towards the middle and end of the month.   The Midlands and Eastern England are expected to take the brunt of  the bad weather which could include snow - - -

Once again not much on the radar display except for the Scottish blobs, its looking like it might be yet another dry day locally

Just under the freezing level and there should be quite a frost once the light gets up.  Travelling after dark yesterday the frost which had not melted during the day looked almost like snow on some surfaces.

Not a bad view on the weathercam the promised cloud looks to be arriving over the valley.  The early morning mist is still moving around below at river level

Local weather today 
The official forecast talks of a frost in low lying areas, which we have.  The clear sky will probably cloud over quite quickly though as the day develops but sunny intervals are forecast for this afternoon.  This cloud will tend to thicken and lower this evening

Yesterday was once again a flurry of activity which ended rather surprisingly with a bit of a disappointing conclusion.

The rain radar display is almost getting to be familiar with its blobs up around Scotland and clear elsewhere!

Local weather today
The fog locally looks to have cleared a bit from earlier in the night but the warning still needs to be there.  Its looking like it will be a dry day with some sunshine where the fog is burned off and the early frost melted.

As expected the Temp is below freezing but not quite as low as the minus 5 of yesterday.  I expect it will get a little colder before it gets fully light

The weathercam view shows the fog has completely cleared locally and it's a clear cold morning now

With the rather cold but sunny weather yesterday it was not one for going out unless it was absolutely necessary.  After a brief flurry of activity early on in the morning we settled down to stoking up the wood burner and watching the skiing on TV.

The main headline is the current weather which hyped up by the media for a while now could really only be described as typical winter weather

Hardly any precipitation visible on the display this morning which might account for the plunging Temp right now

The Temp was minus 5.2 not long ago but its eased up a little to -4.5c now.
Local weather today
Its going to be a cold bright day but with the chance of freezing fog which might struggle to clear in some areas of the Peak District.  Frost and fog will reform this evening and overnight more widely.

Great looking day but its still quite cold at plus 2.1c

The irritating Aussie chef JT hits the banners having had some kind of "accident". i wonder if it was a fight? and the cost of parking to get free NHS treatment or visit patients is also up there
Diabetes is the main story  must be yet another slack news day but the paper, like many, reports the death last night of Carrie Fisher.    Finally there's an advert for you to get some equity out of your house.

All the newspaper scaremongering about snow storms and freezing weather over xmas have come to nought and today is no exception. The radar display shows some rain/snow in Scotland but for the rest of us it might be a half decent day.  
With the Temp down at 1c there's a frost outside on the cars.  The Bar. Tendency to sunshine might be right on the money today

There are a few clouds around on the weathercam view but its looking like it might be a sunny day later

Local weather today 
Today will start with some thin mist and cloud patches but soon develop into a crisp winter sunny day but with the best of the sunshine in the afternoon.  Tonight will be cold and frosty with the possibility of some fog.

I managed a short walk around the field by the river closest to the house yesterday. 
 to begin with cloud almost covered the sun so the early walk views
 had a touch of  grey and cold about them
 
 the wind was fresh and cold and as i made my way along the riverbank to the field i intended to walk around , the clouds cleared a bit and the sun managed to shine
 looking up to the nine ladies ridge i plodded on
 the old tree is still hanging onto the river bank
 and the sheep meadow and hillside are bathed in the sunshine
 reaching the bottom of the field i turn and head straight back across it, that's enough for today
time for a quick look across the river at my usual spot and i see two blokes fishing with ordinary rod and line further up the river - - -

News
The banner spills over onto the front page with coverage of George Michael's death.  The main story tells us once again something that we already know about leaving the EU and there's a sale on at "very".  Having felt a tad under the weather over xmas i had been listening to the radio a lot and many of the programmes echo the sentiment that the EU monetary system is in a mess with the wealthy nations propping up the weaker ones and that the EU is eventually doomed.  Why are the people running it so stupid as to let weaker nations in with the same privileges of the stronger ones.  Its a bit like letting someone open a bank account with no money then giving them a dustbin full of the stuff ! - - -
