with the direction arrows i have added its easy to see how the low pressure area in the Atlantic is pushing out the weather towards the UK.  Metcheck discussion indicates its going to be a colder couple of days, even hinting at SOME FROST in Scotland and plenty rain for most areas of the country in the next few days
====================
 Its a mid teens Temp this morning but as Metcheck is suggesting tomorrow and Thu could be a whole different ball game
The weathercam shows that the low cloud and mist is on the hills opposite, this situation could be with us for a while this morning before it clears.  The forecasters have us with a max Temp of 18c, cloudy and with light rain a possibility for most of the day.
========
Yesterday started off particularly fair, and according to Metcheck discussions there wont be many fair days for a while, so i decided to walk to the Nine Ladies circle
As i set off walking up river this huge tree lying across it caught my attention.  Its all but snapped off from the original trunk and with the Autumnal rainfall it could break free. A few years ago a tree a little further up river of a similar size fell into it and prompted the environment agency to mount an operation to pull it out and dispose of it. I wonder if this one will suffer the same fate
 Across the clear stretch of the river it was looking a fine day
 With us not having had much rain lately the river is rather low
 this is just before the Wye joins the Derwent such a nice looking view from the bridge
 Caudwells Mill over the river Wye
 gaining some height the view is pretty good
 Haddon Hall in the mid distance
 ?????
 I didnt go all the way to the top having realised i wanted to drive to Bakewell and that the free parking permit runs out at 11:00 so i'm on my way back down now
 The cloud is forming up now in this view off to the South so the promised rain looks to be on its way
 Its already obscuring the blue sky off to the East as it marches up from the South West

A nice example of a modified Defender and they have to be the knobliest tyres I have seen in a while

 Just about full cloud cover now looking West across the Derwent
 Absolutely no sign of the Ransoms anymore by the river path
 The stream outfall is really high and dry now but the coming rain will soon change that
a final peek across the river before time to go to Bakewell.
My plan was shot to pices however because the showground car park is hosting the Bakewell Show and there was already a Q into the town so my visit was abandoned

My, by now, very frustrating battle to keep a gang of magpies off the bird feeders takes a hit when they discover that i only put the plastic shield around half the feeder.  I soon rectified this
that idea prompted more attention from them in their efforts to get at the fatballs
in the end i removed the fatball feeder only to have them switch their attention to the peanuts!!!.  I'll keep an eye on them today and might remove that as well.  The other birds still use the feeders but obviously the larger Magpies seem to be hogging them most of the time just now
