not even a sign of any rain on the Netweather.TV display this morning
Single figure Temp this morning and it did get down to 6.3c about an hour ago!
that said the view on the weathercam is encouraging with an almost clear sky ready to start the day.  Forecasters are looking at a sunny interval day and even Metcheck have forsaken their "default" of some rain at sometime during the day.  - - -

No sign of the heatwave again so we decide to clear out an old stash of firewood up at the logging site yesterday
Some of the wood, mainly lumpy bits has been under the plastic cover for 3 years at least
part of the stash is overgrown and the nettles and blackberry bushes try to stop me retrieving the stuff
 nearly there
finally we're done
as Sally fixes her hair
the plastic cover from the old stash is taken down to the new pile near the knoll
and almost covers it, i might even modify the size of the stash to make it all fit under the plastic, an old shower curtain helps keep the bit sticking out dry for the time being
as we leave Bertie and Napkin see us on our way
and the wood joins our lumpy bit stack
i discover "spot" from down the terrace inspecting the inside of the shed.
LM joins us in the garden looking for a break in the cloud cover
 eventually he decides
its just all too exhausting - - -

A PEEK AT THE PAPERS

The banner spills onto the main part of the front page saluting the British athletes in the Olympics as well it might on a day when 5 golds and 3 silver medals were added to the tally
The other front page story is about the dithering of civil servants to the job of getting us out of the EU.  A quote from the story says, "Any suggestion that Whitehall is not ready, just wont do" - - - just do it!
The mail also covers the success of our Olympic squad.  The so called public interest lawyer firm which has been using legal aid millions prosecuting our service personnel over alleged abuses in Iraq and other war zones is closing.  The head of the firm faces charges after an investigation.

A success story
A great story from Sky News  about the reintroduction of the Red Kite a few years ago.  Its a real success story because its now reckoned we have 10& of the worlds p[population of them in the UK.  Magnificent bird I hope we eventually get them in the Derwent Valley - - -
