Take an old bag shopping & the Indian Summer is closing down

Great idea from the Express This morning about slashing you shopping bills I can imagine its a great tool if you live near a number of retailers - - -

This great pic of Hurricane Joaquin from the Space Station is part of a story where contact with a container ship has been lost in the storm area - - -  This report in the Mail is suggesting the storm might be headed for the UK! - - -

this "Charging 5p for plastic bags" thing is intriguing me now that i know more about it.  In theory if you take a plastic bag (after the 5th of Oct) from say the self scan area of a supermarket and don't pay for it you could, end up with a criminal record for theft.  However! there are exceptions where you can have a bag for free!  If you buy any unwrapped fruit, (and various other items)  you can have a free bag for that item but you  mustn't put other "things in the same bag, otherwise you will need to pay for the bag!?!?!?!?.
So what you can do is put your unwrapped fruit in individual bags your other items back in the trolley but then outside the shop surely you are free to load up the bags before you get into your car/bus/walk away!?!?!?!. - - - just for the crack i might try the above! - - - the moral of the story i think should be "Take an old bag shopping!"

Having planted a nectarine in the greenhouse at the top of the garden we imagined the natural run off of water down the hill would be enough to negate the need for watering.  It was a surprise then when all the blossom fell off it in Spring when we had a bit of a dry couple of weeks.  We have been watering it during the summer but came up with the idea of diverting the rainwater from one side of the roof into a pipe then to the base of the tree to take care of it in the future.
So yesterday after a bit of fiddling with a piece of garden hose here i am testing the theory - - - success! just need some rain now! - - -

leading on from the blog yesterday where i approached the "closed Footpath" alongside the railway from the North i ventured out into the fog and approached the area from the South to look at the "Cycle Track/Footpath work" .  The old track by the railway has grown from a couple of feet wide to about 8 now and has been graded almost flat.
The planted winter crop is now knee high, still no idea what it is
The mist was much in evidence at River level

Today's weather at 07:23
quite cool again this morning at a touch over 6c
the mist/fog is once again swirling around the valley and just like the last few days we are promised a sunny afternoon once its burned off.  The Indian Summer is set to leave us in the next few days.  Its noticeable that the Barometric pressure is falling rather quickly which should usher in changeable weather.  2 days ago we had a high Barometric pressure of 1033hPa and this morning its 1014hPa, this drop is significant and Metcheck, and others, are predicting it will mean its going to get colder and rainy - - -
