Lakes trip - Rainy 4th day

The weather forecast was spot on today - - - rain - - - we had designs on going for a short walk near Thirlmere Reservoir but decided against it
stopping off the Rydal Stepping Stones it was already raining so walking was shelved
Instead we visited the W Wordsworth museum which is conveniently next to Dove cottage where he, his sister and family lived
its a fascinating place with some of his original furniture still in it
taking this pic though i didnt notice the shadowy figure until we got back to the hotel - - - creepy!
this is one of the tiny bedrooms and on the wall is Wordsworth poet laureate certificate
another of the upstairs rooms with a cabinet stuffed with Wordsworth memorabilia
out in the garden where Wordsworth worked on some of his poems the houses in front were not built when he lived in the cottage and he would have had an uninterrupted view down to the lake
Sally inspects some of the garden
the museum is a fascinating place and of course there's the ever present gift shop
we stop off and have a brew with the path up Helvellyn in the background
a very soggy view down to the Thirlmere Reservoir
back at the hotel late afternoon we have a real downpour

Enjoy the day
