Aldi a cheaper option? & A cold and frosty morn

great time lapse video  of the frantic attempts to keep a US football pitch clear of snow in Iowa for a game last Saturday as up to 18" of snow fell in the area
OK i blogged this not long ago its the skier from the "Teton Gravity Research" video.  Not only does it show his fall as on the original clip but also one from a helmet camera.
Something i noticed though - - - if you stop the first clip at 34 seconds it looks as if there's a ski and a body in the snow as our guy go's hurtling past???

This article  from the BBC is about Climate change and the risk assessment process going on in the USA.  Some states are woefully prepared while others have taken action.  The main threats appear to be flooding, wildfires and extreme heat.  It reports that North Carolina has passed a law!  "limiting how state scientists can measure climate change risk, now that seems a good idea! - - - it has to be said though, North Carolina is a state that appears to have done some assessment and work on the risks

Having noticed at the end of my walk Saturday that the council had started work on another section of the "cycle track project" i determined to walk down the section by the railway which we had seen numerous vehicles and workmen on for the past few months.
The path has closed signs at each end and i felt a little guilty as i squeezed past the barrier at the north end.  My guilt evaporated as i encountered a small army of dog walkers on may way south.

once again with the freezing Temp it was a grey old day with just a hint of mist on the hilltop
the old track which was really only a couple of feet wide has all but been erased as the 9 foot strip of compacted aggregate stretches away in front of me.  The trees have been conserved where possible but further down the bushes have all been grubbed out and a ditch filled in with large aggregate so it will still drain the location but stop cyclists riding into it
at the far end the original squeeze through wall has been demolished and moved 2 feet making the road path wider and presumably to allow cyclists to ride through from the road onto the path
the Churchtown graveyard,  not ever the place to loiter but looking and feeling extra cold this morning
crossing Darley Bridge i took this pic then noticed a Heron fly upstream
clicking on this "crop" reveals the heron standing at the base of a tree on the river bank

walking up through Warren Carr the picture off to the East and South looks very cold with the recent snow clinging on to the hilltops

higher up and now back on familiar ground, this is my route up to and back from the Nine Ladies circle.  This view looking North up into Chatsworth on the misty horizon. where the Christmas Market is in full swing now.  As ever its an expensive do with, for openers, £5 to park weekdays and £10 at the weekends!
Crossing over the Wye at Rowsley it looks like the island in the middle is making a bid to join the bank on the left side of the river
a few metres on the Derwent passes under the A6 road bridge
the cloud looks to be breaking a little as i make my way down the river
but as i reach the end of the walk the cloud cover is once again 100%

We had always though our dining table would be too long for our ex Kitchen come present Dining room/Library this way round.  Sally had the idea to try it and it makes the small space look instantly larger - - -

"You must try the New Aldi at Ashbourne" said our friends who were enthusing at the range of items there.  With my impending departure from my local supermarket job mid Dec and therefore the loss of my 10% discount it seemed a good idea.  I have to admit that i have only been in Aldi once before and not having a shopping list at the time i just wandered through it.
Having hardly ever been to the Ashbourne we did the grand tour before enlisting the help of Sally's phone and finding it instantly.
We didn't go there with a list of "comparative items" from our normal shop and we didnt need to! The prices were an eye opener from the start to the finish.  We scooped up the odd item to try and OK you have to abandon the "old favourite" branded goods but its not difficult to see why Aldi/Lidl are taking so much of the market

very cold this morning with a Temp dipping below freezing
the weathercam looks across a cold valley and the sky has very few breaks in it.  Forecasts indicate that it will remain cold today but the wind will gradually "back" round to the South again and the temperature overnight should be a few degrees above freezing.
I had an IP camera next to this one but it ingested a load of rainwater and i think its dead now although with it dried out in front of the fire i have still yet to try it
