Asylum bill shambles & Pond and rain cover work

The big headline in the Express is about the bill we all contribute to for asylum seekers.  The text behind the headline indicates, as usual that the whole asylum thing is a shambles - - -

The top left headline about a 70 degree F Easter is agreed by some forecasters but its looking that before we get there March is set to be a cold possibly snowy month

My walk yesterday was the usual Round Robin but with a bit of a detour
the snowdrops still look pretty good but the next usual suspect is well on its way as seen in this pic.  The bright green leaf and other shoots surrounding the snow drops are the wild garlic Ransom plants
my detour from the normal route took me up to the highest point on the hillside looking north west over Rowsley.  The view point is a rocky outcrop where we have picnicked in summer enjoying the great views.

the dead foliage form the pond plants was beginning to block the pump inlets so it was time to get rid - - -
I did the cutting while Sally captured any escaping bits
That's better - - - the 2 bits of wood stop the plants being blown into the pond once the foliage gets a little long.  Its a problem we have had almost every year so this was our answer and it works, once the plants start to grow the sticks are almost hidden.  In an attempt to see more of the fish we have also moved a huge water lilly into the deeper bit of the pond the other side of the bridge, in mid summer it was covering much of the water in the pic - - -
we spent some time yesterday putting on the roof to the extension of the original carport. We decided to attempt it yesterday even though the weather conditions were far from ideal.  Luck was with us though and as the day turned colder and colder and cloudier i was fastening the last roof sheet down as it started to rain and by the time i was packing up the tools we had proof that the roof didn't leak ---

cold stats and a frost this morning which was quite a surprise after all the rain yesterday afternoon
just a bit of cloud around now with the forecasters indicating we might get some snow later - - -
Enjoy the day
