The worker was then charged by the police for having the marijuana - - not her day. Reading the story made me look up some of the names people use for the stuff this link lists 420!
A number of newspapers today report that our beloved members of parliament are to get an 11% pay rise - - - nice to know they aren't going to be short of money - - - I wonder if there "meagre" allowance structure will also be subject to an 11% increase? - - -
The Politically Correct police have been at it again
At this school in Accrington Lancashire some of Enid Blyton's books have been banned because they contained "inappropriate stereotypes" A source is alleged to have said, They had references to gypsies, golliwogs and a dog with a name beginning with N" As usual with this type of "eyes to heaven" type of story the comments by readers below the story are "gems!" - - -
I see the much delayed Walking with the wounded charity race to the South pole has had another set back
The 3 teams competing in the race are now to join together for safety reasons due to the weather conditions and the "particularly difficult skiing conditions" . Good call really but you have to wonder why they appear not to know how cold it was going to be nor what the skiing conditions were like - - -
Closer to home
We set about cutting down the Apple Tree which is at the top of our garden yesterday. It was our opinion that the poor thing had had its day and should be replaced. We had to take it apart limb by limb because of it proximity to fences and garden building. This method however was to be to the tree's advantage.
Here's an earlier pic of it, for some time now it had looked like it was on its way out with dead branches and the trunk bark looking a little ropey.
Having removed a couple of dead branches from a large limb we removed the limb only to find that the wood inside looked perfectly healthy.
We then determined that we would only remove the right hand limb from the pic above. I was reluctant to climb the tree to saw off the limb so we used a couple of ropes to stop it crashing to the ground and i set about it from the ground with my chain saw.
Our "cunning" rope trick worked and I chopped off largish bits as it was lowered to the ground
On completion we had a nice
pile of firewood
The view from the bottom of the garden has changed a little but at least the birds still have some tree to use to get down to the bird feeders
We did however have an "injury", Sally tossed one of the sawn branches over the fence and managed to almost lose her thumb nail. She did point out though that had she been wearing her gloves the injury would not have happened.
Bloodied but not bowed she scurried off to put a plaster on the wound and a little later she consoled herself with a bit of home made Lemon Merangue!
Sally does a "mean" Lemon Merangue!! - - -
Enjoy the day
