The trip to our sojourn

Sat in Manchester airport paying £5.50 for a cold lager I pondered if this might be the last time i tried this!!! Well i mean, whats wrong with the Lake District lol !
By the time the flight (delayed) took off we had been on the go for 9 hours
.
Flying over part of Greenland you could see where the icebergs had broken off a glacier and were making their way to the open ocean.

We were surprised how warm and sticky it was at Toronto airport and after banter with the Cat Rental people it was nice to sit in the air conditioned comfort of the Jeep Patriot we hired.
The City traffic was - - - well city traffic and we once again were confused by the road signs.  They have a curious way of just indicating streets at exits rather than "A617 Chesterfield"
By dint of some luck and good judgement we managed to hit the right exit for our 60 mile trip to the hotel at "Lagoon City"  It turns out, in the gathering dusk to look like a retirement village with our hotel sat on the Simcoe lakeside.

dumping our stuff in the ample sized room we realize we have been on the go 19 hours and hit the hotel restaurant which doubles as the local takeaway.
Having got a nice cold beer and ordered food in walked Harry Secombe!
Well this English bloke looking like a cross between Harry Secombe and a very bad impression of Elvis walked in with a young couple of Brits
He noticed our accents as we were leaving and engaged us in conversation pressing one of his cards in our hands.  What a character!

So today its off to visit our old haunts in Orillia, last time we were here was in the depths of winter so i guess the 4 feet of snow and frozen lakes might look a tad different this time - - -

WEATHER IN DARLEY DALE
