A rainstorm dampens our trip - - - & - - - houses for under a grand

Enjoy the day – Enjoy the weather

back home in Darley Dale its a warm 19c with a fresh breeze.
The weathercam has a pleasant view across the valley with the forecasters predicting the cloud might build this afternoon

We had planned to drive over to the Blue Mountains and do a little walking yesterday.  Setting off under leaden grey skies we soon encountered the rain.  A few miles short of the Blue Mountains resort we turned off down a side road and sat in a shop car park to wait out the rainstorm.
Seeing no end to the manky weather we retraced our steps and pulled into the Simcoe County Museum  very much a heritage museum there are lots of old buildings and machines out in the open sector
this house, rebuilt from its original site nearby was the home of 4 generations of an Irish immigrant family
inside the main building of the museum are displays of all kinds of historical items from the area of Barrie on which the museum sits on the outskirts
driving down into Barrie we pondered that the last time we were here with all the snow and frozen lake it looked a different picture.   Thankfully by now there was no sign of the earlier rain.
parking up by this odd looking bit of sculpture complete with birds atop the moving oar like things we set out to find a lunch stop.
We found an Irish bar complete with the numerous TV's hanging from the walls, very distracting, but quite the norm out here.  Lunch was huge portions reasonably priced and the place was noisy and lively
on our walk around the town we saw lots of the cute little black squirrels.  The strangest thing about them is they dont bother hibernating in the bitterly cold winters.  Another failing is their lack of Green Cross Code knowledge as their little bodies strewn liberally on the roads attest!
Arriving back at the hotel at 16:00 and accepting that we were disappointed not to have got to the Blue Mountain resort we still pronounced the day a good one with time well spent.
Today is a clear blue sky day at the moment and we are intending to "do Orillia" before we move on to North Bay tomorrow

A PEEK AT THE PAPER back home
Its the usual Sunday paper stuff apart from the first time buyer scheme from the Govt.  I Wonder who will be at the front of the queue? - - -
