Slack news day! & carnage in the front garden!

It looks as if Dean Palmer the author will be off HM's Christmas card list as the Express shows off some details of his book "The Queen and Mrs Thatcher" - - - slack news day at the S Express! - - -
my favourite weather site, http://www.metcheck.com  makes light if a "server problem" but its been like this for 2 days now? - - -

Closer to home, After divesting the Laburnum stump of its 16 snails in yesterday wet weather, they had managed to eat almost all of what little foliage remained, a dose of slug pellets was liberally applied around the base of the tree.  This morning utter carnage! i just counted at least 44 of them in various stages of being poisoned along with an indeterminate number of slugs.  No doubt it will be my job to dispose of the bodies! - - -

Although we are still in June and only almost half way through the spectre of "house maintenance" jobs is looming and this is a task undertaken in the month of July.  At the front its, paint the porch and replace a barge board on it as well as repair a gap which has appeared in our roof guttering. We also have a hard to reach window which will be cleaned and the frame painted for the first time - - -ever!

At the back the kitchen windows will get their usual lick of paint and the kitchen roof flashing is looking like it needs to be replaced.  Part of the stairs covering down to the back door has been bereft of its roof for long enough now , since last October" that will need to be redesigned slightly to keep it away from an adjoining wall.
I have it in mind to extend Boris's car port roof a foot or two because we store so much wood in there now that he almost pokes out the back and with the promised "El Nino" winter a possibility it should be worth the effort.
Finally our covering of where we park Cyril the van has been such a success making it possible to sit out there even when the weather is inclement i will extend that roof also to ensure that when we park him end on to block in Boris, due to the fact that Defender's are a prized commodity for car thieves, the whole of him is under cover, well almost - - -

double figure Temp. already this morning
the weathercam pic shows a fair amount of cloud just now but 20 mins ago the sky was clear, weathermen are hedging their bets this morning by predicting a 5% chance of rain throughout the day

Enjoy the day
