Phil2 arrives and is put straight to work - well nearly

After picking Phil2 (the Freelander) up yesterday we set off back from Saltburn by the Sea at around 10:00am.  He performed well although didn't seem as sprightly as the old Freelander Commercial we had previously.  Being a "station wagon" i guess the reason is that its a lot heavier with all the seats, extra doors and things.

With Sally following in Boris i kept the speed down to just below the legal limit on the motorway except for one very long Queue where a heavy lorry had broken down according to the road reports on the radio.  When we finally got to it all that appeared wrong was that it had a puncture! but it was blocking one of the 2 lanes.

On arriving home the only slight problem I could discern was a drip of oil coming from some kind of leak near the top of the engine which will require investigation.  The engine oil level didn't look to have gone down so maybe its not too serious at this juncture.

So here is Phil2 settling in at the cottage after the trip.
Dave, the bloke who sold us the vehicle reckoned it was silver but in the half light of dusk the previous evening i imagined it looked pink and wondered if it shouldn't be called Phylis! Sally's take on the colour is metallic mushroom!   Mmmmmmm

We need to collect some, - correction! "I" need to collect some wood today (while Sally shops!) because our wood supply is seriously depleted with her being "in residence" instead of working each day.  So after I get rid of the doggy smell from the inside of Phil2 he will be set to work bringing back a couple of loads from our cache in the hills.  I'll blog tomorrow with a few pics.

Only being away 24hrs we left the cats with a generous supply of food and water and locked the cat flap much to their consternation.  When we returned they "greeted us joyously!" by rushing outside to inspect the new truck and disappear into the garden.

In the evening though with the wood burner at full bore they actually snuggled up together on "their" rocking chair looking like they were bosom buddies - - - Mmmmmmm

Enjoy the day
