promises - promises & a day out in the garden

Still weeks away from the election and the rhetoric is already getting tedious - - - promises - promises! - - -

As the situation in Yemen gets even more desperate here's a new acronym for you AQAP its stands for Al-Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula - - -

Here's one for the health freaks  I heard thison the BBC news this morning but here in the Mail its in all its glory.  After being told by the Express that Exercise is the key to fighting off Dementia here comes a theory that being skinny in Middle Age increases your chances of getting dementia - - - all this however proves a long held opinion of mine that "everything is eventually going to be bad for you" - - -

Anyway back to things we can at least see!

with the few days of half decent weather we are having along come a pollution warning for today Sky News is carrying this one that "dirty air" from the continent" and "Saharan dust" will cause, Eastern Central and Southern England to be affected by the smog conditions - - - living where we do does have some good points then? - - -

Another Gem from the pacificinstitute.co.uk/  stating the obvious really but most of the time we cant see the wood from the trees, like my old mate Marcus! he's a go getter so he tells me but he never quite seems to be able to get there, great story teller though - - -
Where Do You Want to Go?
If you're going to get what you want in life, it is only common sense that first you have to know what you want. Even beyond that, it is absolutely essential that you take your desires seriously enough to goal-set to achieve them.

There is a good chance that the reason most people fail to achieve their goals in life is that they never really set them in the first place. Most people spend more time planning a wedding or a vacation than they do planning their lives. And by failing to plan, they are actually planning to fail, by default.

Your mind is like a targeting system or an automatic pilot on a boat. Once you clearly and specifically commit to the target or destination, your mind uses negative and positive feedback from your environment, including your internal environment, to adjust your behaviour.

But if you program your mind with vague desires, nonspecific goals, or fuzzy ideas, the feedback will be meaningless. For example, if you goal-set for a better standard of living, how will you know when you have achieved it? Any improvement at all will be something better. But if you have a highly specific target, such as doubling your income or tripling your production, you will always know when you are on track and exactly how far you have left to go at any given moment.

As the saying goes, "If you don't know where you are going, how will you know when you get there"? Remember, you have the power to achieve whatever you want in life, and commitment to specific goals is the surest way to tap into that power.
==================================================

Lots of small jobs were completed yesterday, moving the washing whirligig pole out of the garden was not a 100% success
you can juts make it out the thing between the 2 roof sections.  It has a drunken lean to it and it touches out electric cable to the garden so it might be moved later - - -

A new garden hose was laid, this one is long enough to stretch the whole way to the top of the garden, it was a bit like fighting with a large wriggly worm with all its kinks and twists -  -- it looked so benign just lying there all curled up but it has a mind of its own when you try to lay it in a straight line - - -
this is an earlier pic of the pond and the "green menace" had got to the stage of needing to be sorted - - - I stripped down both filters and pumps to clean and rid them of what is probably not helping the situation, we then netted as much of the stuff floating around the surface before switching the pumps back on.  With both pumps running all the time now it should sort itself out in a couple of weeks - - - hopefully - - -
LM was out most of the day with us and here he is in hiding mode
then a little late afternoon sunbathing
before pausing in his wanderings to be in "reflective mode
Sally has just returned from her early morning walk with some "misty morn" pics this one looking South as the sun peeps into the valley
cool stats once again but the temp is moving steadily upwards
the mist is making the weathercam pic a little blue but the sun is burning it away quite quickly now
Enjoy the day
