Castaway! & more garden project work

The film "Castaway" with Tom Hanks springs to mind reading this World Exclusive by the Mail this morning
At sea off Mexico on a fishing trip in December 2012 the man has trouble with his boat and drifts off into the Pacific!
16 months later he is washed up and found by locals on Ebon Atoll 8000 miles away
Some of the comment below the story think its a fake!  Strange though how he doesn't appear to have been burned by the sun??? - - -

"someone didn't think this through" says the person who posted this picture on "Reddit"
The pic was snapped in Trafalgar Square where "Dick" appears to be wearing a blue cockerel on his head which you can only hope is a statue on a plinth in the background ! - - -

The Daily Express seems to have run out of miracle cures with a headline today about benefit scroungers
It would be nice if someone could come up with a solution to catch the scroungers.  There are even self employed benefit scroungers.  That's hard to swallow?  how can you be "Self Employed" and cadging off the state at the same time?

I guess some of the Express's miracle cures have more chance of success!

The pic of the bus swept onto the sand in Wales and the accompanying headline about 72 hours of storm hell to come are prolonging the weather misery for many - - -

Closer to home.
A whole day without any rain yesterday!  and today is predicted to be fine - - - well at least until 2100 tonight

We had a good day on the decking project and enjoyed the sunshine although keeping a wary eye off to the South as threatening clouds appeared now and again.
The location for the first half of the project had a plum tree which we didnt want to fell so it meant we had to shave off 20cm from the decking to make it all fit.
This part of the project we determined not to do that so the bit I am sawing on is actually resting on the remains of the shed base which was right on the edge of the path up the garden.

Sally marks off where the decking support posts should go and the far end of the decking is within 30cm of the trellis on the edge of our boundary wall!

We had utilised the old pergola beams rather than use the decking boards that the plan suggests.  We are hoping to have enough left over to make a decking walkway in front of the little greenhouse near the birdfeeders.

The "end of day" pic then sees all the support posts concreted in and today's job is to get the decking boards and balustrade posts done.

Enjoy the day
