An auction for cricket players! & Some Snow at last

I never knew that there was an Auction for cricket players
Kevin Pieterson recently dropped form the England team (no doubt he is delighted to be now distanced from the latest debacle downunder!)
"Went" for 90m Rupees while others "went" for more among the 514 players on sale I don't think that's anything to be sniffed at!
The auction is all part of how the Indian Premier League works lets hope their "purchases" pay off!

Our UK miserable winter weather takes centre stage once again in the news with over 100,000 signatures collected by the Mail to divert some of our Foreign Aid Budget to UK flood sufferers.
This petition is being politely ignored by the PM in the story
While the last round of The Red Bull Storm Chase  windsurfing contest is revelling in the high sees and waves down in Cornwall - - - great video's on thelink!

Elswhere in the world, theres another prediction of a catastrophic ice storm in the US and the Japanese have been having a hard time with some

unseasonal snow causing Seven dead and 1000's injured in this Singapore Straits Times story
the snow is described as "the heaviest in decades" In this pic people walk through a park in downtown Tokyo in a snow storm

Closer to home.
I had been down the shop yesterday to pick up a few things and the rain had been coming down in "stair rods" for quite some time.  A couple of "colleagues" mentioned they were on "An amber snow warning" for the rest of the day, claiming there would be 6 inches by midnight.
Driving back home the rain turned to sleet and by the time i turned up the back of the terrace it was snowing.
This weathercam pic at 10:26 shows the snow coming down well and the visibility not much more than 100m.
We stoked up the fire and did what we call "make and mend" thinking it was in for the day.  It soon petered out tunring back to rain and by 1400 there were even some breaks in the cloud.
I was pottering around feeding fish and birds late afternoon when the clouds fianlly broke and I levered Sally out of the house for a glass of wine on the "southern" decking pergola.

Our thoughts soon turned to the fast approaching holiday in the Maldives and so here's a look at what the weather was like there (Kurudu island) a few days ago!
That'll do for me!
Enjoy the day
