With Cyril the van back on the road after his thermostat change the other day i decided to give the Curbar edge walk another go
The tops of the hills were shrouded in mist, it was a change though from the icy snow that the track was covered in a few days earlier
the stark outlines of the climbing routes are plain to see in this shot
while the rock stack looks even more exposed
i had seen a couple of new walking routes from Curbar edge to White edge etched in the snow last time i was up here and decided to try one. Locating the start was fine because it was on the end of a stone walled rectangle but as i crossed the moor it split and i took what turned out to be the wrong route. I came across this cross shaped feature of stock shelters which i recognised so i used my compass to get me up to White Edge
with the mist thinning as little i was able to use the sun to keep me on the right bearing and eventually hit the White Edge track
Once on the ridge track it was a stroll back to the van. The time taken was about one and a half hours which is half the usual time for the whole route
I had intended to be on the red drawn route on this pic but finished up following the blue route.
With the last shift completed at the Fun Factory yesterday its all sights set on the hols now with a bit of book work thrown in for good measure.
I think its time for another stroll up to the Nine Ladies once the light comes up this morning
cold stats again with a bit of a breeze just now
still not completely light out there but its looking pretty cloudy, indications are that it will stay dry today - - -
Enjoy the day
